Bethenny Frankel Enjoys Honeymoon In St.Bart’sFriday, July 16, 2010 6:48:39 AM by GD
July 16, (THAINDIAN NEWS) In the latest episode of “Bethenny Getting Married?” Bethenny Frankel and Jason Hoppy are seen out on their honeymoon in St. Bart’s. The romantic holiday spot has become a rage on the web after the couple celebrated their dramatic honeymoon which was compete with a camera following them.
After arrival at St. Bart’s, Bethenny Frankel and Jason Hoppy are escorted to their villa where they strip down quickly to hit the swimming pool. In spite of the baby bump, Bethenny Frankel is seen flaunting her body as the couple head down to the beach. There is some drama as animal droppings are noticed and Bethenny Frankel is seen freaking out at it. She also asks Jason Hoppy to get his hands dirty with poop. They suspect that an iguana has entered the villa and go on to search for it. Later, Bethenny Frankel is seen getting her belly waxed and later discussing her child’s surname with her husband. Bethenny Frankel says that she is closed to the idea of being called Mrs. Hoppy, in spite of loving the name, for professional reasons.
Later, Bethenny Frankel sets up surfing lessons for Jason Hoppy. As she watches and cheers her husband, she is also seen becoming emotional after seeing some young children playing on the beach. On the next day, the couple head out to check out the cuisine around St. Bart’s. At the end of the day they are seen challenging each other to finish off a red pepper that is extremely hot. The couple regret the challenges as both are seen trying to cool their tongues with ice later.

Anchorman,
To answer your implied question, Ms. Frankel is a "reality" television star here in the States. I believe that prior to boarding U.S. television's reality rocket to name recognition, she had a successful career as a personal chef known for her specialty baked goods, which included vegan, dairy- and fat-free treats.

Anchorman, the only thing memorable about Bethenny Frankel is this quote on how to stay slim:
"Taste everything, eat nothing."

Nickthedog asked me to re-post his 12-23-02 post on another forum in this thread.
To all you glorious posters out there,a question, is it time to stop giving advise on SBH? Every year the Island get's more visitors and we on this board might be contribiting to SBH being over run.The restaurants get crowded and the prices for Hotels & Villas are on the increase. By our raving about SBH on this Forum I'am sure there hasn't been anybody that has changed there mind (if they were on the fence) about going. In my own case a Villa that I rented for $ 4000 a week last winter went to $ 6000 this winter. It's a question of supply & demand. When will you stop telling every stranger that listens about how great SBH is,when you can't get a Villa? when the Hotel prices go thru the roof? When you can't get into Andy's? I don't know, maybe I'am wrong,. What do you think? Nick

A valid comment, and here's my two-cents:
St. Barths people are not children. We visitors are there solely by the grace of their goodwill, and should that goodwill change, St. Barths People can choose to propose--and vote on--limits on visitors. Given that scarcity breeds value, I say that the increase in visitors serves to spread more wealth around the island, driving prices down, not up. Should visitor limits be proposed, passed, and enforced, prices would likely rise in accordance with a newly perceived exclusivity.....much like Mustique.
Further, SBH has some inherently crowd-limiting aspects to it: Many vacationers would prefer not to have an additional travel "leg" built into their island sojourn; and many visitors prefer all-inclusive resorts with golfing, planned activities, frothy umbrella drinks at swim up bars, and the like. It's not an island for everyone. Case in point: American food-and-travel writer Anthony Bourdain HATES St. Barths and makes a point of telling that to anyone who will listen.
Like I said....just my two-cents' worth. Tourism is a double-edged sword, sadly.

Dragoness,
Yep! Bourdain has a well-established loathing of SBH based on ONE visit there, during the high season. He is a huge fan of St. Maarten/St. Martin. I've often heard it said that if someone enjoy's SXM, they will NOT like SBH and vice-versa.
To quote:
MY WORST HOLIDAY EVER WAS TO...
St Bart's - it is the epicentre of evil. If Lenin or Marx ever saw who really runs this world - and what they do for fun - they would never have become socialists. They would simply have killed themselves from despair and revulsion. Caligula would have been shocked. It is so awful as to be beyond parody. After my week on St Bart's, I crawled under my bed, adopted the foetal position and just lay there whimpering for days.

Sounds to me like he went to St Bart's at the wrong time. He should not equate St Bart's with the worst of its visitors. That is simply unfair.

St. Barth does not need me to apologize for an a**hole like Anthony Bourdain not liking it. St. Barth will do just fine without him.

In answer to Greg's initial question whether any of us saw the show last night on Bethenny Frankel's honeymoon in St. Barth's.....I did, and it was delightful depictions of a perfect place to honeymoon....dinner at Eddy's, escarot at Andy's, a honeymoon suite at Guanihani completer with a butler, cheeseburger at Le Select, wind surfing on St. Jean, and lunch/dinner at the Guanahani pool. I smiled for the entire 1/2 hour of footage, and sighed at all the lovely reminders of happy, relaxing vacations. And their vehicle of choice?
A BMW convertible which looked like fun.

SEG, get a grip, the grace of the SBH people has nothing to do with our being in SBH, it's all about the grace of the $$$"s in our pocket!!! SBH people love us being there because it keeps them in the bucks, especialy some of the resto owners who buy their food from Miami using inflated Euros to pay for their supplies (food) & making a small fortune currency trading!!!
Limits should be encouraged for visitors blabbing about the wonders of SBH & TV shows going there & broadcasting to everyone the joys of SBH .
And far as prices going up or down the only time they are down is in the summer & that is only for villa rentals & hotel rooms because they can't give them away off season. Has ANYONE ever seen a resto menu with lower prices in the winter or summer, they would rather throw the food away than lower the prices on the menu. Check out how much the price of RIBS at the Pipster's has gone up over 5 years to around 24 E. Right, where are the early bird specials & 2 for 1 dinners!!!
And as far as the small plane trip goes everyone raves about it either on this forum or that other place. You Tube even has videos about that SXM/SBH ride where people are actually having fun, hardly a reason for anyone to raise concern over a extra 10 minutes.
Don't get me wrong I love SBH I have spent 2 months there every winter over the past 20 + years, plus numerous off season trips. I'am just so tired of forums encouraging everyone in the world to go there & people with the vision that SBH loves to have us there, would they love you if you were poor?

Nick....
I do, as they say, "feel your pain". The double-edged sword that is tourism has clearly, from your POV, wreaked havoc on a place you have loved for over two decades.
I wrote a considerably longer response to this, but instead, I ask you: What would you like to see? What do you recommend? What do you want the St. Barths People to do about their island and your concern?

Regarding Anthony Bourdain and his apparent "hatred" for our beloved island...
If you read his most recent book, and I did, you find Anthony in a pitiful, self-absorbed, drunken stupor after his recent divorce in his rented cottage on St. Maarten. He admits he's in a sorry depressed state and is almost suicidal. He not only almost kills himself in a car, but endanges others with his nightly drunken driving around the island. This he admits freely in his book.
He then admits he stupidly invites a new, "hot" girlfriend to spend the holidays with him. He describes her profession as professional fashion show attendee, British socialite, user & wannabe. Nice. Oh, did I mention she's a big coke-head? Anthony does.
And so she "talks".. ahem...him into going to St. Barth for new year's. What does he find? She has none of the "friends" or connections she promised, they have no where to stay (really? boo who), and they spend the entire time drunk and looking to score coke.
Our "hero" takes no responsibility for his decisions or actions, blames it all on the druggy chick and St. Barths takes the brunt of it.
There is a psychological coping mechanism, correct me if I'm wrong, called projection. I suspect this might be a great example of it.
Anthony, to you, goodbye, fare ye well, enjoy your new wife and baby daughter. Glad you got your crappy life together. But your books and show are f-ing crap to me now. I plan on bringing them to SBH with me this year, and enjoying a nice bonfire, St. Barth's style.

Miss Kitty!
Thanks so much for the elaboration. I have only read one of Bourdain's books, so this is very interesting background. I have seen some of his "No Reservations" episodes, and honestly, the only one I really liked was when his crew was stuck in Beirut. The reason that I liked it was that I felt for once, Bourdain dropped his "schtick" and got honest and real with the camera.
Again, thanks for your well-thought-out input on the topic.
